The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Monday successfully thwarted a cowardly attack by terrorists affiliated with the Indian terror proxy Fitna Al Khawarij at the Nala Kasho police checkpost in Bannu district.
The terrorists launched a two-pronged assault on the checkpost using light and heavy weapons.
The attack began with sudden gunfire, but police stationed at the post quickly took defensive positions and repelled the assailants.
No casualties were reported among the police personnel, all of whom remained safe during the encounter.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Yasir Afridi, said, “The cowardly acts of terrorists cannot weaken the morale of our police force. Bannu Police remain vigilant at all times and are fully capable of dealing with any threat to the area.”
Authorities added that the terrorists fled after failing to achieve their objectives due to the prompt and effective response from the police.
Security in the area has been further tightened, and search operations are ongoing to apprehend the attackers.
