Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has said that Pakistan has gained an unprecedented global standing following its victory over India in the May war.
The ambassador said that Pakistan is located in a very sensitive region of the world and therefore its importance at the international level has increased.
Speaking to the media in Washington on Saturday, Rizwan Sheikh said Pakistan has consistently played a responsible role in promoting global peace and security, a role that is increasingly being recognised internationally.
The ambassador said relations between Pakistan and the United States have seen significant improvement over the past year.
He noted that diplomatic engagement between the two countries has strengthened and that dialogue and cooperation have expanded across multiple sectors.
Rizwan Sheikh described the progress as the result of Pakistan’s proactive diplomacy.
He said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in the United States were continuing successfully and that Islamabad’s position was being effectively communicated.
According to the ambassador, Pakistan’s stature has risen globally since the war, with the international community viewing the country as a serious and responsible state.
Commenting on the role of the media, Rizwan Sheikh said its importance has grown substantially in shaping public opinion.
He said he personally works as an adviser in the diplomatic process and considers the media a key partner in that effort.
To promote national interests, he added, diplomats and the media must work together.
Rizwan Sheikh also expressed confidence that Pakistan would further strengthen its positive image internationally through its foreign policy and that the process of improving relations with the United States and other key countries would continue in the future.
