Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Yasmeen Rashid has decided to approach the Lahore High Court to challenge the election tribunal’s decision that upheld former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s victory from National Assembly constituency NA-130.
According to sources, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, who is serving a prison term, has completed consultations with her legal team and instructed her counsel, Rana Mudassar Umar, to file a petition against the tribunal’s ruling.
Her lawyer said that Dr Yasmeen Rashid has directed that the decision should be challenged immediately.
An application has already been submitted to obtain a certified copy of the tribunal’s verdict, and a formal petition will be filed in the Lahore High Court as soon as the copy is received.
Rana Mudassar Umar maintained that the election tribunal failed to properly assess the facts of the case and dismissed Dr Rashid’s election petition on technical grounds.
Earlier, the election tribunal had declared Dr Yasmeen Rashid’s petition against Nawaz Sharif as non-maintainable, thereby upholding Sharif’s election victory from NA-130.
