Special instructions have been issued to the police to stop one-wheeling, aerial firing and rioting. More than 6,000 police personnel and more than 1,400 traffic police personnel will be on duty in Lahore.
IG Punjab Usman Anwar has directed the police to remain on high alert on the occasion of New Year’s Night and keep a close watch on anti-national elements.
More than 25 thousand police personnel will be deployed for security across Punjab on the occasion of the New Year.
Those involved in dangerous driving, one-wheeling, aerial firing and rioting will have to go through the custody.
According to CTO Lahore Dr Athar Waheed, the City Traffic Police has also completed the arrangements in the city.
Office staff have also been deployed on the highways for effective traffic management. 20 DSPs and more than 1,400 inspectors and wardens will perform duties to maintain traffic flow.
According to the Lahore Traffic Police, motorcycles of underage drivers will be stopped immediately.
Additional personnel will also be deployed at Azadi Flyover, Liberty Chowk, Defence Main Boulevard, Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Gulberg Main Boulevard. Riaz Ahmed, Aaj News Lahore
