MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq’s wife laid to rest in Karachi

Shumaila Imran, wife of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq, was laid to rest in a local Karachi cemetery on Saturday after funeral prayers were offered at Rehmania Mosque on Tariq Road.

Shumaila Imran had passed away in London last week after a prolonged illness. Her mortal remains were brought to Karachi a day earlier.

Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders, including Dr Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal, attended the funeral prayers along with party workers, relatives and family members of the deceased.

Speaking to the media, Dr Farooq Sattar paid tribute to Shumaila Imran’s sacrifices, saying she raised her children in difficult circumstances following the assassination of Dr Imran Farooq.

He described her as a patient and resilient woman, a talented writer, and an active worker of the MQM women’s wing. He also prayed for patience and strength for the bereaved family.
