The Islamabad High Court has dismissed two objections raised by Justice Tariq Jahangiri in the ongoing degree case.
In its written order issued on Tuesday, the court summoned the Registrar of Karachi University to appear with the original record on the next hearing set for December 18.
The court rejected a request to make the Islamabad District Bar Association a party in the case, stating that the Islamabad High Court Bar and the Islamabad Bar Council must be heard in the proceedings.
The written order highlighted that serious allegations had been made concerning the High Court judge’s degree.
Considering the sensitivity of the matter, a special division bench was constituted under the court’s administrative authority.
The order noted that the formation of such a special bench was not unprecedented.
The written order stated that the appeal sought the transfer of the chief justice had already been dismissed by the Federal Constitutional Court.
Justice Jahangiri’s objection against the chief justice on account of bias was found to have no legal basis.
The order referred to several past rulings regarding the principle of recusal of judges on grounds of bias, noting that no legal reason had been provided for objecting to the chief justice.
