A joint anti-smuggling operation near Gadani has led to the seizure of 500 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine) and 3,500 bottles of foreign liquor, with an estimated total value of Rs37 billion, officials said on Saturday.
The operation was carried out by the Pakistan Navy, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani.
Authorities said the seized contraband has an estimated international market value of about $132 million.
The foreign liquor was being smuggled into Pakistan, while the narcotics consignment was destined for an international market.
The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani has formally taken custody of the seized goods for further legal proceedings.
Officials said the successful interdiction underscores the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Navy, PMSA and the Federal Board of Revenue to counter smuggling and narcotics trafficking through coordinated maritime enforcement.
