Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been discharged from the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) following gallbladder surgery and has been transferred back to Kot Lakhpat Jail, his lawyer Rana Mudassar confirmed on Wednesday.
Qureshi, who has been imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail in connection with the May 9 cases, was admitted to the PKLI for treatment after his health deteriorated earlier this month.
He had been taking medication for gallstones for almost a year.
Lawyer Rana Mudassar said that Qureshi’s condition improved after the surgery, and he was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
He added that additional medical tests had been conducted, and their reports are expected within 15 days.
Qureshi, a former foreign minister, had faced health complications while in jail, prompting his temporary hospitalisation for surgical intervention.
