K-Electric intensified its crackdown on power theft this week, removing more than 550 illegal connections during operations across Gulshan Kareem, Paradise City, Bhashmi Para, Eido Garden, Ali Muhammad Goth and Shah Town.
The confiscated kundas weighed nearly 1,100 kilogrammes, the company said.
According to KE, these illegal hookups were consuming about 110,000 units of electricity each month, causing annual losses of roughly Rs53 million.
The utility said its anti-theft campaign aims to protect power infrastructure, improve recoveries and help consumers transition from illegal to legal connections.
KE added that curbing theft and ensuring timely bill payments are essential to reducing losses, minimising load-shedding and delivering reliable power supply across Karachi.
