Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday warned India against miscalculations, saying Pakistan’s future response would be “even faster and more severe”.
He was addressing officers of all three armed services at the newly established Defence Forces Headquarters.
Describing the new headquarters as “a historic change,” Field Marshal Munir said it would enhance multi-domain operations under a unified command, while the Army, Navy, and Air Force would maintain their autonomy and organisational structure.
He cautioned India not to fall prey to “self-deception or assumptions,” stressing that Pakistan is prepared to respond decisively to any threats.
Referring to the Taliban regime in Kabul, he delivered a clear message, stating they must choose between “Fitna Al Khawarij” or Pakistan.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, saying, “Pakistan is a peace-loving country. Let everyone know that Pakistan’s defence is in the hands of brave and devoted personnel. No one will be allowed to test Pakistan’s sovereignty and resolve.”
Earlier, a formal ceremony was held at GHQ in Rawalpindi to honour the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces.
Field Marshal Munir was presented a guard of honour by contingents of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu were also present.
The tri-services contingent first saluted the naval and air chiefs before presenting a general salute to Field Marshal Munir, marking his official induction as the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces.
