Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a crackdown on violations of the one-dish rule at wedding functions and the unnecessary use of loudspeakers.
The decision was taken on Saturday during a meeting presided over by the chief minister, where she directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure strict enforcement of the one-dish policy across Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz also instructed authorities to take stern action against loud music at weddings and other events, and to initiate legal proceedings over the illegal use of loudspeakers.
She ordered measures to curb the unlawful use of loudspeakers at farmhouses and open grounds, similar to the restrictions imposed on marriage halls.
During the meeting, it was also decided in principle that the one-dish rule would be strictly implemented across the province.
Officials were directed to monitor compliance with the designated operating hours for marriage halls.
The chief minister warned that government officers would not attend any wedding or event found violating the one-dish policy or loudspeaker regulations.
