Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has said that rumours being circulated in the country were part of a coordinated conspiracy against the country, adding that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) alleged collusion with anti-state elements has now been fully exposed.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Tarar said that the DG ISPR’s media briefing made it clear that the Pakistan Army’s operations along the Afghanistan border were ongoing to prevent cross-border infiltration.
Criticising the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the minister said the provincial government’s weaknesses were a major reason behind the rise in border incursions.
He pointed out that over 4,000 terrorism cases in the province have yet to reach the stage of formal charges, and that no effective prosecution system has been established in KP in the last 12 years.
“The KP chief minister knows how to chant slogans outside Adiala jail but does not understand the meaning of prosecution,” he added.
Tarar said that while the Pakistan Army continued to repulse Afghan attacks from time to time, “the PTI is the only party which feels sad over Afghanistan’s defeats.”
Referring to the Islamabad courthouse attack, Tarar said the perpetrator was an Afghan suicide bomber, yet no condemnation came from PTI leaders.
He also criticised PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister for giving interviews on Indian channels without addressing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, Kashmiri martyrs, or the Marka-e-Haq.
“Indian channels know that PTI’s mindset is anti-Pakistan, which is why they give PTI their platform,” he said.
The minister added that the PTI founder enjoys five-star hotel facilities in jail, yet Afghan and Indian media continue to spread false propaganda claiming threats to his life.
Tarar stated that Pakistan’s armed forces have proven their capabilities in the Marka-e-Haq and remain ready to confront all forms of aggression, while PTI seeks to divert attention from terrorism and weaken the country internally.
