Three terrorists were killed, and several others were injured during a joint operation by Bannu police and local residents under the jurisdiction of Ahmedzai Police Station, officials said on Friday.
The clash erupted between the Fitanah al-Khawarij terrorists and local civilians, prompting an immediate response from police.
Both sides exchanged heavy gunfire before security forces and tribal volunteers managed to encircle the terrorists.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, praised the role of the Hathi Khel tribe, noting that the residents stood alongside police in tightening the cordon around the terrorists.
The bodies of the slain terrorists were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Authorities said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militants from the region and maintain public safety.
