Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi extend PSL franchise agreements for 10 more years

Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi have renewed their Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise agreements for an additional 10 years following recent valuations, PSL officials confirmed on Monday.

The renewals, announced at a ceremony in Islamabad, underscore the franchises’ confidence in the league and their commitment to growing their global brand presence.

Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, cricketers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi attended the event alongside PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

“Lahore Qalandars’ decision to renew their agreement is a strong vote of confidence in PSL,” Naqvi said.

“The team’s owners have transformed the franchise into a global brand. Their talent development programs have infused new energy into Pakistan cricket.”

PSL CEO Salman Naseer said the league will expand to eight teams in its 11th edition next year.

“The passion and energy of Lahore Qalandars define PSL. Their talent nursery has delivered fresh blood to Pakistan cricket,” he added.

Under Shaheen Shah Afridi’s leadership, Lahore Qalandars have claimed three titles in the past four years.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi also extended its franchise agreement for another decade, with ownership remaining with the current owners.

“Under Javed Afridi’s leadership, Zalmi has become Pakistan’s most popular franchise,” Naqvi said.

“His vision provides a strong foundation for both the team and the PSL.”

Salman Naseer added, “Zalmi’s renewal reflects its trust in PSL. The team’s energy and fan connection are central to PSL’s identity, and Javed Afridi has played a key role in the league’s growth.”

Peshawar Zalmi’s extension has sparked excitement among fans, cementing its status as the most-watched team in the PSL.
