A girl who went missing from Islamabad 17 years ago has been reunited with her family from the Edhi Centre in Karachi, sources said on Monday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kiran was handed over to her biological father after years of separation.
The reunion was made possible through the efforts of the Safe City Punjab.
Kiran recounted, “I had gone out to get ice cream and got lost in the streets. Someone left me at the Edhi Centre in Islamabad. Later, the late Bilquis Edhi brought me to Karachi. At the Edhi Centre, I received both religious and contemporary education. Today, I am extremely happy to meet my parents. The time I spent at the Edhi Centre will always remain in my memories.”
Shabana Faisal of the Edhi Foundation said that this is the fifth girl from Karachi to be successfully reunited with her parents.
Kiran’s father, Abdul Majeed, whose family hails from Kasur, expressed his joy: “We had lost all hope of finding our daughter, but suddenly the police came to us and informed us that she had been located. We are overwhelmed with happiness after being reunited with her after 17 years.”
