Ishaq Dar, EU Council president agree to deepen Pakistan-EU ties in Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met European Council President António Costa in Brussels on Wednesday, with both sides agreeing to strengthen their mutually beneficial partnership across key sectors.

During the meeting, Dar thanked the European Union for its consistent support at multilateral platforms.

The two leaders discussed cooperation in areas of shared interest, including GSP+ arrangements, trade and economic ties, and developments in regional and global security.

Officials said both sides agreed to continue working together to advance joint priorities and deepen collaboration in important sectors.

Dar arrived in Brussels earlier in the day to co-chair the 7th Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue at the invitation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

He was received at the airport by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, along with other embassy officials.

The visit comes after Dar concluded a trip to Russia, where he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
