Pakistan, Saudi Arabia reaffirm defence cooperation during high-level Riyadh talks

Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army, met General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al-Rowaily, CGS of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces, in Riyadh, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed matters of mutual strategic interest, focusing on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and advancing initiatives under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA).

Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the long-standing fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, contributing to regional peace, stability, and self-reliance.

A Special Meeting of the Pakistan-KSA Bilateral Defence Industrial Forum was also held in Riyadh.

The Pakistan delegation was led by Lt Gen Syed Aamer Raza, while the Saudi side was headed by Khalid Al Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs.

During the forum, both sides reviewed ongoing defence projects and explored new opportunities for joint ventures in emerging technologies aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Lt Gen Raza reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for capacity building of the Royal Saudi Defence Forces.

The Saudi leadership acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions, achievements, and sacrifices in combating terrorism and promoting regional peace and stability.
