PCB submits initial squad for Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a preliminary squad of over 20 players to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Sources indicate that the selection committee submitted the list two days ago, adhering to the ICC’s requirement for teams to submit names one month prior to the start of the event. The Champions Trophy’s support period begins on February 12.

The preliminary squad reportedly includes captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Tayyab Tahir, and Irfan Khan Niazi. Other notable names include Sufiyan Muqeem, Mohammad Hasnain, Abdullah Shafique, Naseem Shah, Usman Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf.

The list also features Abrar Ahmed, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha, Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Haseebullah, Abbas Afridi, and Saim Ayub.

While a 15-member squad was sent to the ICC for the South Africa series, the final Champions Trophy squad is expected to be announced on February 10. Significant changes are anticipated, with the inclusion of Abdullah Shafique and Usman Khan considered less likely for the final team.
