Pakistani athletes Muhammad Kareem and Muhammad Shabbir are set to take part in the Asian Winter Games which would take place in Harbin, China.
They would represent the country in their respective events: alpine skiing and cross-country skiing.
Air Commodore Asghar Jameel will serve as the Chef de Mission for the Pakistani delegation while Muhammad Abbas will take on the role of players’ coach. The Pakistani team is scheduled to depart for the Asian Winter Games on February 4.
The core competition team for the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games is composed of both domestic and international winter sports experts, Sports Department Director Li Guang told reporters on Tuesday.
International Federations and Asian Federations have appointed 12 technical delegates and one assistant technical delegate from countries including China, South Korea, and Japan, bringing a wealth of experience from global events. Moreover, the Harbin Asian Winter Games Organising Committee (HAWGOC) has designated 21 competition managers and deputy competition managers responsible for overseeing event organization.
Li revealed that since September 2024, the HAWGOC has organised 14 “Dynamic Harbin” test events across all competition venues and disciplines. So far, seven test events, including the National Men’s Ice Hockey Championship and the National Women’s Ice Hockey Championship, as well as the China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League, have been successfully conducted.
