WhatsApp moves server abroad amid slow internet speeds in Pakistan

Due to persistent slow internet speeds and frequent outages, several international companies, including WhatsApp, have begun shifting various operations outside of Pakistan.

Documents from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reveal that WhatsApp has relocated its session server routing abroad, prompted by recent internet shutdowns in the country.

This move has impacted the service delivery of WhatsApp, leading to communication difficulties for users.

Despite this setback, the PTA reported improvements in internet services across fixed-line and mobile networks.

Fixed-line internet speeds have risen by two levels in the past month, although Pakistan still ranks 139th globally in this category.
