Gas supply suspended after major pipeline explodes near Queta

A major gas pipeline explosion near Quetta’s Western Bypass has caused a widespread disruption of gas supply across several areas of Balochistan. Police reported that the incident occurred near a bridge in the jurisdiction of the Barori police station. An 18-inch diameter gas pipeline was targeted, resulting in a large fire.

Police and fire brigade personnel responded quickly, bringing the blaze under control after an hour-long effort. Barori SHO, Mahmoud Kharoti, stated that initial investigations suggest sabotage, with the pipeline appearing to have been targeted with explosives. A full investigation is underway.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) officials confirmed that the damaged main gas supply line has resulted in a complete gas outage affecting numerous areas in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.

Affected areas include Killa Abdullah District (Kachlak, Ziarat, Bostan, Yaro, Karbala, Harmalzai, and Pishin), and several areas within Quetta city itself, including Airport Road, Nawakali, Jinnah Town, Khaizi, A-One City, and Hazar Ganji.

SSGC officials stated that the company is working to assess the damage and expedite repairs. They apologized for the inconvenience caused to their customers and promised to provide updates as the situation develops.
