Four Pakistani men have been sentenced to two years in prison each and ordered to pay a collective fine of 1 million AED for impersonating police officers and kidnapping two Indian nationals.
Following their prison terms, the convicted men will be deported from the UAE.
The incident occurred on March 29, within the jurisdiction of Al Rafaa Police Station. According to court records, a Pakistani driver employed by the victims collaborated with three accomplices and a fugitive to execute the crime after discovering that the victims were carrying a large amount of cash.
On the day of the incident, while driving the victims to Dubai’s Gold Souk, the driver informed the gang of the victims’ whereabouts. They then followed the victims in a black Kia vehicle. Near Al Mankhool, two members of the gang posed as police officers and forced the victims into separate vehicles.
The gang took the victims to Al Nahda, where they stole 1 million AED, two mobile phones, and two wallets before releasing them. The victims promptly reported the incident to the authorities, leading to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the five suspects.
One of the accused was identified as the mastermind of the operation, while two others played significant roles in impersonating police officers and carrying out the robbery. The fifth suspect, also a Pakistani, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence, as testimonies supported his claim of non-involvement.
