Bengaluru woman wins massive prize in sleeping contest

An investment banker from Bengaluru, Saishwari Patil, has transformed her passion for sleep into a remarkable achievement, winning INR9 lakh as the ‘Sleep Champion’ in Wakefit’s third season of its sleep internship program.

This innovative initiative, designed for individuals who value sleep despite their busy lives, involved 12 selected ‘sleep interns’ who committed to getting eight to nine hours of sleep each night, along with 20-minute daytime power naps.

The program provided participants with premium mattresses and contactless sleep trackers to help monitor and enhance their sleep patterns.

Interns also attended regular workshops led by sleep experts to refine their sleeping habits.

The selection process for this unique internship included an application screening, video resumes showcasing the candidates’ enthusiasm for sleep, and personal interviews to assess their commitment to improving sleep quality.

Over three seasons, the program has attracted more than one million registrations and awarded a total of INR63 lakh in stipends.

Saishwari’s journey began with a casual application fueled by curiosity. She soon became deeply invested in the program, learning valuable insights into sleep science, including the importance of various sleep cycles for overall well-being.

She emphasized the need for discipline, stating that participants must adhere to a strict sleep schedule and minimize late-night distractions.
