Police have rescued Nazir Ahmed, an elderly man abducted from Defence Phase 8 in Karachi. The rescue operation resulted in a shootout with the kidnappers, leaving two suspects dead.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Mr. Ahmed was waiting in his car outside his home for his grandson when a car pulled up, and four unidentified individuals forcibly abducted him.
The FIR was filed by the victim’s grandson, Muneeb Ahmed, at the Sahil police station. Muneeb stated that his grandfather had left for Fajr prayers and was waiting for him. Upon returning, he found his grandfather’s car empty with the driver’s side door open. CCTV footage from the house confirmed the abduction.
Police reported that Ahmed was recovered during a routine vehicle check on the road from Qayyumabad to Seaview. When police signaled the suspicious vehicle to stop, the occupants opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two suspects were killed, while two others managed to escape.
The alleged shootout took place near Creek Avenue in DHA Phase 7. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of Mr. Ahmed. Police have identified the deceased suspects as Ijaz and Aqeel. The SHO (Station House Officer) of Defence stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
