ATC charges nine PTI leaders in GHQ attack case

A hearing in the high-profile case related to the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Pakistan was held on Monday at Adiala Jail. The hearing, presided over by Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Amjad Ali Shah, was adjourned until December 19.

Nine additional accused have been formally charged in the case. The prosecution has also filed an application seeking the cancellation of bail for 23 accused, including a former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Notices have been issued in response to this application.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan was produced before the special court established within Adiala Jail during the hearing.

Several high-profile defendants, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Colonel Ajmal Sabir Raja, and Sikandar Zeb, refused to sign the charge sheet, claiming insufficient evidence against them.

They argued that their request for the discharge of the case (presumably referring to a Section 265-K application, a legal provision related to discharge of an accused) should be heard first before they sign the charge sheet. They stated they would sign the charge sheet after the court rules on their request.
