No holding back as shares at PSX’s benchmark index gain over 916 points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s benchmark index experienced a bullish trend for the ninth consecutive session on Monday, with shares rising by 916.43 points, bringing the market close to the 110,000 mark.

The benchmark KSE-100 index finished the day after appreciating by 0.84%, closing at 109,970.38 points, compared to the previous close of 109,053.95.

Over the past two weeks, the PSX has recorded several remarkable single-day gains. Last week, strong buying from mutual funds propelled the index to an impressive weekly gain of 7,697 points, marking a record rise in terms of points.

A total of 1,597,868,204 shares were traded during the day as compared to 1,697,842,022 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs60.251 billion against Rs57.487 billion on the last trading day, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

As many as 467 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 278 of them recorded gains and 158 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 31 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were K-Electric with 164,514,973 shares at Rs6.16 per share, WorldCall Telecom with 161,906,262 shares at Rs1.83 per share and Cnergyico PK with 113,022,299 shares at Rs7.13 per share.

Four days ago, PSX achieved a remarkable milestone, with the KSE 100 Index surpassing 105,000 points for the first time in history.

During the last week, the index reached a high of 109,478 and a low of 101,921. The benchmark KSE-100 index rose by 1,274.55 points, or 1.27%, reaching a closing value of 101,357.32 points, up from 100,082.77 at the previous close on November 29.
