Emma Dumont, known for their role in Oppenheimer, has publicly identified herself as a transmasculine non-binary person and is now using the name “Nick Dumont” among family and friends. They have also adopted they/them pronouns.
In an update shared on Instagram, where they continue to use the handle @emmadumont, Dumont’s representative confirmed the news, stating that while their professional name remains Emma Dumont, they will be known as Nick in personal circles.
Although Dumont has yet to make a public statement about their transition, they have been active on social media, showcasing their new pixie haircut, which they debuted in May. Since then, they have shared several posts highlighting their transformation.
Dumont has also appeared in notable projects such as Marvel’s The Gifted, Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, and NBC’s Aquarius alongside David Duchovny.
The Hollywood actor is set to lead the cast in the upcoming horror thriller New Me, which has completed filming, although a release date has not yet been announced.
The term “transmasculine” refers to individuals assigned female at birth who identify or express themselves in a masculine manner.

While Dumont has not yet commented on their coming out, fellow actor Emma Corrin has previously shared insights into the challenges faced after coming out as non-binary in 2022.
In 2020, Canadian actor Elliot Page came out as transgender. She was assigned as a female at birth. Last year, Page appeared in the film Close to You with hopes that it would move people and crack open the hearts and minds of viewers as it did for him.
