Former Al-Nassr goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo is considering converting to Islam.
Abdullah, speaking on a television program, stated that Ronaldo has expressed interest in converting, citing the footballer’s respect for Islamic practices and his adaptation to Saudi Arabian culture.
Abdullah supports his claim by pointing to Ronaldo’s past prostration on the field after scoring a goal, an act witnessed and celebrated by his teammates with shouts of “Allahu Akbar.”
He further noted Ronaldo’s habit of requesting training pauses during prayer times to allow his teammates to pray. Abdullah also described Ronaldo’s initial curiosity about Saudi culture and his frequent questions to the goalkeeper about local customs.
While emphasizing Ronaldo’s dedication and discipline as key factors in his success, Abdullah maintains that the player’s potential conversion stems from genuine interest and respect for Islam.
The former goalkeeper concluded by highlighting Ronaldo’s positive reception and comfort within Saudi Arabia.
