Pakistan has reported three additional cases of polio, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 59 for the year.
The latest cases were confirmed by the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) and were reported from Dera Ismail Khan, Karachi’s Keamari district, and Kashmore.
Dera Ismail Khan has seen a total of eight polio cases this year, while Karachi’s Keamari district has recorded three cases so far. This marks the first polio case reported in Kashmore for the current year.
According to the NEOC, the distribution of polio cases in 2023 includes 26 from Balochistan, 16 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closel as part of ongoing efforts to combat polio in the country.
