Navjot Kaur, the wife of former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served with a legal notice amounting to 850 crore Indian rupees over her claims regarding curing cancer through food.
The Chhattisgarh Civil Society sent the legal notice to her, India Today reported.
The organisation has demanded that Kaur provide evidence for Sidhu’s claims within seven days. Failure to do so may result in her being required to pay the hefty sum for what they describe as “misleading” claims.
The notice stated that Sidhu’s assertions could foster negative perceptions about allopathic medicines and treatments, potentially pressuring cancer patients to discontinue their medications, and thereby endangering their lives.
It further emphasised that the spread of “misinformation” has jeopardised patients’ health and called on Kaur to clarify her position regarding her husband’s statements.
On November 23, TV host Sidhu made a shocking claim that he cured his wife’s stage four cancer solely through dietary changes, improved nutrition, and traditional methods. He also stated that he treated his own fatty liver disease with the same approach.
At the press conference, the Kapil Sharma Show member added that his wife became cancer-free within just 40 days due to a strict diet. Sidhu claimed that he himself felt rejuvenated by following the same regimen.
He revealed that his wife had been diagnosed with stage four cancer, with doctors giving her only a five per cent chance of survival.
Sidhu revealed that a friend’s son, an oncologist in the United States, had given his wife only a 3% chance of survival after her cancer diagnosis. Following this, he conducted some research and encouraged his wife to explore further options.
He stated that they prepared his wife’s meals using coconut, olive, or almond oil instead of refined oils.
