PMD forecasts hot day in Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a hot day for Karachi with bright sunshine.

Current temperatures are at 23°C, with a predicted low of 18-20°C and a high of 33°C. Winds are blowing from the northeast at 6 kilometers per hour, with humidity levels at 84%.

However, the pleasant weather is overshadowed by concerning air quality. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), Karachi ranks second among Pakistan’s most polluted cities and sixth globally. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels have reached 184, a significant health concern.

Gulshen-e-Iqbal has emerged as the most polluted area within Karachi, recording alarming PM2.5 levels of 273.

Shaharh-e-Faisal Road follows closely behind with a PM2.5 reading of 231. Readings between 100 and 200 PM2.5 are considered harmful to human health. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the harmful effects of air pollution.
