Section 144 imposed, IDEAS 2024 International Defense Exhibition kicks off in Karachi

The preparations for the IDEAS 2024 international defense exhibition at the Expo Center Karachi are complete. The Prime Minister is set to be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony today.

Running from November 19 to 22, the 12th IDEAS exhibition will showcase a range of domestically produced defense products over four days.

Notably, the event will feature the introduction of Pakistan’s latest combat drone, the Shahpar III, alongside other advanced technology defense systems and equipment.

Brigadier Ali Adil, Director of the DEPO, emphasized the exhibition’s importance in advancing the defense industry and contributing to national development.

He highlighted that this event is the largest of its kind in the region, with representation from 330 foreign exhibitors and 33 delegations across 55 countries.

Commodore Ittazaz Khalid noted that Iran, Italy, and Ukraine are participating for the first time, while special pavilions have been created for China and Turkey.

The IDEAS defense exhibition occurs every two years, and during this event, Sir Shah Sulaiman Road from Hassan Square to the stadium will be closed from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Section 144, prohibiting public gatherings, has been imposed in Karachi for seven days, from November 18 to 24, coinciding with the IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition.

The notification, issued by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi, states that all protests, sit-ins, rallies, and gatherings of more than five people are banned across the city during this period. The measure was implemented at the request of the Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi Range, to ensure security during the exhibition.
