Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan for the IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition, taking place at the Expo Centre from November 19th to 22nd. The plan outlines several road closures and traffic diversions to manage the expected increase in traffic volume.
Key restrictions include the closure of the road from Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium Road from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily during the exhibition. Both flyovers leading to the stadium will be closed to traffic. The road from Stadium Flyover to Hassan Square via Dalmia Road will also be inaccessible.
Further restrictions include the closure of the road from University Road (coming from NIPA) turning left towards Expo Centre. Heavy and commercial vehicles, including water tankers, will be prohibited from using the Karsaz Road off Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Heavy and commercial traffic will be barred from entering Stadium Road from Rashid Minhas Road. These vehicles will be diverted to alternative routes via NIPA, Askari 4, and Shahrah-e-Faisal, or NIPA Chowrangi.
Heavy and commercial vehicles will be prohibited from using the routes from NIPA to Hassan Square and Jail Chowrangi to Hassan Square.
Commercial vehicles are advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti Road. Those approaching from NIPA and Gulshan Chowrangi should use Sehrāb Goth or Drigh Road. Traffic police strongly recommend that all heavy and commercial vehicles utilize Drigh Road.
