Iranian hackers leak indecent videos of Israel’s former defence minister

A group of Iranian hackers has claimed to have leaked the indecent videos of Israel’s former defence minister after hacking his mobile phone, Sri Lanka Guardian reported.

Hanzala claimed that it infiltrated the personal phones of former Israeli officials, including former defence minister and army retired army general Benny Gantz and former Israel Defence Forces secretary of the high command Lieutenant Colonel Adi Sabag.

The group alleged that it has obtained and released a wealth of personal data from such devices, including videos and photographs.

Among the leaked materials are clips and images allegedly depicting Lt Col Sabag in social situations, such as dancing at events with fellow IDF personnel.

Meanwhile, Gantz is allegedly featured in compromising scenarios, purportedly involving an affair with a secretary connected to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Gantz served as the defence minister between 2020 and 2022 and as deputy prime minister between 2021 and 2022. He was also the alternate prime minister from 2020 to 2021. He served as the 20th Chief of General Staff of the IDF from 2011 to 2015.

They further allege that the affair involved the sharing of sensitive information related to Netanyahu.

Israeli officials have yet to confirm the authenticity of the recent hack or comment on the specifics of the leaked information.

The incident represents an escalation in the ongoing cyber tensions between Iran and Israel, as personal lives and potentially sensitive data become intertwined in a complex information warfare campaign.

Meanwhile, Haaretz reported that a group of hackers believed to have ties to Iranian intelligence, disclosed the personal information of an Israeli nuclear scientist.

The hackers not only exposed the nuclear scientist’s information but also released personal photos and documents allegedly obtained by breaching the accounts of several high-ranking Israeli officials.

Among the targeted individuals was a former major general who previously led the military’s cyber operations and later served as the director-general of the defence ministry. The hackers published his passport photo and threatened to release additional documents in the future.

Haaretz also reported that in March, this group claimed to have stolen data from the Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona, reportedly by breaching government email servers, including those belonging to the Israel Atomic Energy Commission.

Last week, hackers released around 30 images purportedly from the Soreq Nuclear Research Center. But the news outlet reported that a detailed examination indicated such photos were not actually taken at either Soreq or Dimona. Instead, they appeared to have been sourced from the personal cell phone or email account of the nuclear scientist.

In response, the Israel Atomic Energy Commission denied that the leaked photos originated from Israeli nuclear facilities. Meanwhile, the National Cyber Directorate and the Shin Bet security service declined to comment on the matter.
