Pakistan origin Salman Bhojani re-elected to Texas assembly in 2024 elections

In the latest developments from the 2024 U.S. elections, Pakistani-American Democrat Salman Bhojani has been re-elected to the Texas State Assembly. Bhojani celebrated a decisive victory over his opponent, demonstrating strong support within his constituency.

His re-election underscores the increasing representation of South Asian Americans in U.S. politics.

In the latest U.S. elections, several American Pakistanis have claimed victory. Suleman Lalani also successfully retained his assembly seat, garnering 32,141 votes. Republican Ali Sheikhani has joined the Texas assembly following his win.

In addition, Ayesha Farooqi is a candidate in Michigan, while Amir Sultan is running as a Republican in New York. Maryam Sabiha is contesting on a Democratic ticket in Pennsylvania, and Erin Bashir is the only congressional candidate from Pennsylvania.

Bhojani, who first entered the Texas Assembly in 2022, has focused on key issues such as healthcare, education, and business development, and has been a staunch advocate for immigrant rights.

His win is seen as a significant milestone for Pakistani-American representation.

In contrast, Republican Aaron Bashir, the sole Pakistani-American candidate running for Congress, faced a setback in Pennsylvania, where he was unable to secure a congressional seat in a tightly contested race.
