Pakistan’s key opening batsman, Abdullah Shafique, has fallen ill ahead of the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Australia.
Sources indicate that Shafique is suffering from a mild fever and, as a precaution, missed practice today. His condition is not considered serious, and he is reportedly feeling better.
Despite Shafique’s illness, Pakistan has announced its playing XI for the first ODI.
The squad includes Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Irfan Khan, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain. The team’s participation in the first ODI hinges on Shafique’s recovery.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Australia is scheduled for November 4, with the second and third matches set for November 8 and 10, respectively. Shafique’s fitness will be closely monitored in the coming days.
