Lebanon’s health ministry has reported that Israeli airstrikes in Baalbek, located in the eastern Bekaa Valley, have resulted in at least 60 fatalities, with a significant number of casualties occurring in areas controlled by the militant group Hezbollah.The strikes took place on October 28.
It also left at least 58 individuals injured, with rescue operations still ongoing.
The health ministry’s figures indicate that the death toll spans 12 different locations within the Bekaa Valley, with at least 16 people reported dead in the Al-Alaq area, west of Baalbek city.
This incident marks one of the most intense waves of violence in the region since the recent escalation of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
As tensions rise, the international community has expressed concern over Israel’s recent legislative actions, including a bill banning the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) from operating in Israel and occupied East Jerusalem.
