Changan unveils Lumin electric vehicle; see specifications

Changan, one of the Chinese automakers, has showcased its eagerly anticipated electric vehicle, the Lumin, at the Pakistan Auto Show 2024 (PAPS), according to media reports.

But the model is just a display piece, with no confirmed launch date or pricing details yet announced by Master Changan.

The Changan Lumin is designed as a compact, four-seater EV that boasts advanced features aimed at enhancing both efficiency and comfort.

The company representatives have stated that the Lumin might be offered as a locally assembled model based on market demand and the development of supporting infrastructure.

The electric vehicle accommodates up to four passengers with fabric seating. The front passenger seat can be folded and slid forward using a lever, allowing easier access to the rear seats.

In terms of convenience, the vehicle’s cabin is equipped with a rearview mirror featuring integrated lighting, a multifunctional electronic power steering wheel, a 12-volt power outlet, and USB ports located both at the front and rear for easy device charging.

From a technological perspective, the Lumin is equipped with a seven-inch LCD driving information display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay for enhanced connectivity. Additional features such as keyless entry, push-start ignition, and a smart key further enhance the user experience.

Key specifications

  • Battery capacity: 27.98 kW lithium iron phosphate for the Lumin L, and 28.08 kW for the Lumin L DC, which supports fast charging.

  • Range: Offers a maximum driving distance of approximately 300-301 kilometres on a single charge.

  • Motor and power: Equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 47 horsepower and 83 Nm of torque.

  • Drive type: front-wheel drive.

  • Maximum speed: Capable of reaching speeds up to 101 kilometres per hour.

  • Charging time: The Lumin L takes about 10.5 hours for a full charge, while the Lumin L DC completes charging in roughly 10 hours. The Lumin L DC also features DC fast charging, allowing it to reach 30-100% charge in just 35 minutes.

  • Regenerative braking: Included for improved efficiency.

  • Driving modes: Offers eco and sports modes, enabling drivers to choose between a fuel-efficient Eco mode and a more dynamic Sports mode.
