Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan have agreed to construct the M6 Motorway, linking Karachi to Sukkur via Hyderabad.
This decision was made during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, where they discussed potential public-private partnership options for the project.
The proposed motorway will span 306 kilometers and feature six lanes, designed as a high-speed toll road to enhance transportation efficiency and safety. The initiative aims to facilitate port traffic and improve connectivity between major cities.
Previously, a partnership for the motorway construction had been signed in December 2022, but work had not commenced, leading to its cancellation. The new proposal emphasizes starting the motorway from Karachi to better serve logistical needs.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister also requested the federal government to transfer control of the Lyari Expressway to the provincial authorities for upgrades, and they addressed several other pending infrastructure projects in the region.
