A 19 year old female employee of Walmart was discovered deceased in the store’s walk-in oven in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Saturday evening.Authorities were alerted around 9:30 PM.
The Halifax Regional Police, in collaboration with Occupational Health and Safety and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, which remains unclear regarding any potential criminal involvement.
The victim had recently immigrated to Canada from India with her mother two to three years ago. The Maritime Sikh Society expressed their condolences and called for transparency in the ongoing investigation.
In response to the incident, Walmart has temporarily closed the affected store and is offering counseling services to its staff.
