Thousands evacuate as tropical storm Trami strikes the Philippines

A severe tropical storm named Trami is wreaking havoc in the Philippines, prompting thousands to flee their homes. Rescuers are navigating chest-deep floodwaters to assist residents trapped by the storm, which is advancing toward the eastern coast.

As of Wednesday, over 32,000 individuals in northern regions have been displaced due to intense rainfall that has transformed streets into rivers and submerged entire villages.

In the Bicol region, approximately 400 kilometers southeast of Manila, unexpected flooding has hindered rescue operations, with police teams struggling against strong currents.

The storm is currently located 310 kilometers east of Aurora province, with maximum sustained winds reaching 85 kilometers per hour.
