Woman arrested for spreading false information in ‘fake’ Lahore rape case

A woman has been arrested and charged in spreading false information about the “fake” rape case in a private college, in Lahore.

The accused, identified as Sarah Khan, allegedly claimed on social media that she was the mother of the affected student. This prompted the police to file a case against her at Gulberg Police Station. The charges included violations under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, among other legal provisions.

An officer of Police Service of Pakistan, Muhammad Imran Khan, filed the complaint, stating that the woman’s claims were unfounded. In a video, she asserted that the victim was her daughter, further complicating the situation.

Authorities are currently conducting raids to locate and apprehend the accused, with police officials indicating that her arrest is imminent.
