The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has started billing consumers for the installation of conical baffles as part of its geyser campaign, charging an additional Rs2,085.
This charge has alarmed many customers, particularly those without geysers, as it was applied before any installation took place.
In response to the public outcry, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) clarified that the installation of these baffles aims to enhance safety and reduce gas consumption.
OGRA advised affected consumers to lodge complaints with either SSGC or the Customer Facilitation Centers (CFC).
The initiative, part of the government’s energy conservation measures, is expected to help consumers save up to 25% on gas bills.

SSGC has also launched a public awareness campaign to highlight the benefits of the conical baffles, which have been deemed mandatory following a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on energy conservation.
