Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s political committee announced nationwide protests against the proposed constitutional amendment on Friday.
Following a meeting on Wednesday, the committee decided to strongly oppose the government’s amendment plan. A statement released after the meeting declared that the party will hold large-scale protests across the country this Friday.
The statement also demanded the immediate restoration of fundamental rights for PTI founder Imran Khan, as well as access for his family and party leaders.
The committee instructed all regions to organize peaceful protests at all district headquarters after Friday prayers, appealing to all segments of society who believe in the supremacy of the constitution to participate.
The committee also agreed to make every effort to block the amendment’s passage in both houses of parliament.
It further demanded the immediate release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleem Khanum and Uzma Khanum, along with all arrested leaders, workers, and parliamentarians.
