Jailed former PM Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi surrenders to police in Rawalpindi’s ATC
Bushra Bibi, the wife of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, surrendered herself to the police on Saturday in connection with 23 cases related to the events of May 9.
Several protesters vandalised state buildings and military installations on May 9, 2023 when Khan was arrested in a graft case from the premises of the Islamabad High Court.
She appeared in the anti-terrorism court while accompanied by her lawyers. As the special court judge entered the courtroom, legal proceedings began for her bail application.
Her lawyer, Faisal Malik, submitted the bail requests for the 23 cases. Upon her arrival, special permission was granted for Bibi’s vehicle to enter the premises of the court.
Malik filed the bail applications on behalf of Bushra Bibi and a panel of lawyers would follow up on the bail requests.
Bibi was released from Adiala Jail on October 24 after being granted bail in a Toshakhana case, ending nearly nine months of her detention. The former first lady was taken into custody on January 31 after an Islamabad accountability court sentenced her and Imran to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana reference.
She went to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after her release. According to the party, she is raising her voice for her husband’s release and not taking party in party’s politics.
Bibi, along with KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, led the Islamabad march last month for Khan’s relese. But they could not achieved their goal.
