The federal government has announced plans to deploy Rangers for security in the Red Zone of Islamabad in preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
This two-day summit is scheduled to take place on October 15-16.
According to sources, paramilitary Rangers will be stationed outside key government buildings and on all internal roads of the Red Zone, which houses vital executive, judicial, and legislative offices, as well as foreign embassies.
The security measures were discussed and approved during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who noted that several heads of state and government will be in attendance for the summit.
