Aurangzeb announces major restrictions for non filers

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb announced Tuesday that non-tax filers will be restricted when purchasing property, vehicles, and opening bank accounts.

He emphasized that the government is committed to expanding the tax base in the country, which includes imposing certain limitations on non-filers.

During an interview with a private TV channel, he stated that the wholesale sector, distributors, retailers, and the real estate market would be properly integrated into the tax system. Additionally, he mentioned that subsidies on wheat and sugarcane will be gradually reduced.

In response to a question, he noted that the government plans to implement tax uniformity across all provinces in Pakistan and that new financial agreements will be signed to reinforce the system.

Regarding the increase in tax filers, he revealed that an additional 500,000 individuals have joined the tax net this year.
