A 10-month-old girl has been confirmed to have contracted the polio virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by the National Health Institute.
This marks the second case of polio in KP this year and brings the total number of cases in the country to 23.
The Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza, has expressed deep concern over the rising number of cases.
She has urged parents to ensure that all children receive their polio vaccinations to prevent further spread of the virus.
Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme has reported four cases from Sindh, 15 cases from Balochistan, one case from Punjab, KP and Islamabad respectively.
