Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has revealed that she has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which significantly impacts her ability to concentrate for long periods.
In a candid interview with a media outlet, Alia shared that her ADHD prevents her from spending more than 45 minutes on a makeup set, leading her to favour simplicity in her appearances at events. She described how her condition influences her work style, often pushing those around her to keep pace with her quick approach.
Recalling her wedding day, she noted that her makeup artist requested two hours for her preparation. But she declined, saying, “I can’t give you even an hour; I want simple makeup.” Her openness about her struggles sheds light on how ADHD shapes her professional and personal life.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder marked by challenges in maintaining attention, excessive activity, and impulsivity. Individuals with ADHD often find it difficult to focus on specific tasks and may struggle to remain still for extended periods.
Common symptoms include distractibility, forgetfulness, and interruptions during conversations. ADHD is classified into three types: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and a combined presentation of both.
The term Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is now considered outdated; it was previously used to describe individuals who faced attention difficulties without hyperactivity. This condition is now referred to as predominantly inattentive ADHD.
