Students storm Bannu board over alleged examination results tampering

Students protested against the results of the intermediate exams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu on Monday, storming the educational board’s office.

Hundreds of demonstrators breached the walls of the Bannu Intermediate and Secondary Education Board and entered the building, breaking windows and doors in various offices.

The Bannu board announced the intermediate exam results on September 13, which sparked strong objections from students. They claimed that their scores were significantly lower than expected, labelling it as “gross injustice.”

The assistant commissioner and police arrived at the scene to negotiate with the protesters. Discussions were also scheduled between the demonstrators and the acting chairman commissioner of Bannu on September 18.

In a related development, the board’s controller of examinations has been removed from his position due to the poor results of government schools and student protests. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department issued an announcement regarding this change.

Farooq Khan has been appointed as the new controller of examinations for the Bannu board.
